Over the past few years I have become more and more fascinated with Icelandic musicians, and Of Monsters and Men has only furthered my obsession. This indie-folk sextet who describe themselves as an amiable group of six day dreamers crafting folkie pop songs have yet to release their debut full-length album, My Head Is An Animal, but their single “Little Talks” has been making the rounds since last year, most recently in a music video released earlier this month. Created by We Were Monkeys‘ Mihai Wilson, the video is an epic adventure that captures the imagination with snowy landscapes and a bit of sorcery as the voyagers fend off mystical creatures. If you like what you see and hear, you should check out the dates for Of Monster’s and Men’s upcoming North American tour and grab tickets for your city before they sell out!
DC shoes x SBTG – “Enter the Dragon” collab
To celebrate the Chinese New Year and mark the Year of the Dragon, DC shoes collaborated with Sinagapore’s SBTG to create a commemorative plate set and a limited-run of tees featured in this promo video. I want to know where I can get one of those masks!
Music Monday: Ghostpoet – Survive It (Blackcab Session)
The experimental, hip-hop sound of Ghostpoet‘s debut album Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam has become more and more a favorite since it’s 2011 release, but this Blackcab Session featuring an acoustic version of Survive It has me wishing he would record an acoustic version of his album.
PROTEIGON – A stop-motion film by Steven Briand
This short, stop-motion film consisting of some pretty awesome animations of paper was created by Steven Briand during a two month internship at Partizan. It makes me want to go learn how to create stop-motion right now.
Rainy Day Listening: Junip – To The Grain (Live Session)
It’s another rainy day in Seattle which has me searching for those rainy day tunes. As a long time fan of Jose Gonzalez, I am a little embarrassed to say I am just recently starting to listen to Junip, but better late than never, right? The trio that is Junip consists of Gonzalez on guitar and vocals, Elias Araya on drums and keyboard player Tobia Winterkorn. With a sound very similar to Gonzalez’s solo work, they make for some great rainy day listening. Enjoy.
Filter by Gravis – Featuring Dylan Rieder & Sammy Winter
Skaters Dylan Rieder & Sammy Winter recently took to the streets of Tokyo for a skate session in their low-profile Filters by Gravis Footwear. Set to the musical stylings of The Cosmonauts, this video will definitely give you your skate fix for the day.
